That 5000 mile slump
Hello, my dudes!
Got to chat with one of my favorite couples this morning and their adopted daughter. It felt fucking good.
I feel that in spite of my best efforts I’ve lost touch with a lot of close friends. It bums me out hard. Russia’s given me a lot of time to think. Often, too much time. I miss all you fuckers and everything we did and should have done before our time was up in that tiny Eden.
We started this blog to keep in touch and keep up on what’s going on with everyone and I’m glad that Angie, Risa and Paolo have taken the initiative to restart it. It’s good for us all.
Lent seems to be upon us and the Great Fast is just around the corner here in Russia. Now, as you well know, I’m not religious and I will not be giving anything up, but I would like to say it’s a good time for me to say several things to you all. Thank you for always being there. Thank you for always being such great friends. Sorry for ever being an asshole or taking anyone for granted.
I love you all.

It’s almost Octover. Hello, Novembeard.
Alright, time for another post. I haven’t posted in a while as I’ve posting shit strait to my Russkiy blog, therecognitionscene.wordpress.com. Thanks to Risa, Angie and Nina for some nice thoughtful posts recently. I really enjoyed reading them.
All’s been going just fine here in Vladimir. The city’s alright, the staff is great, the friends I’ve made here are rad as is the host family.
Halloween is fast approaching and I’m a little bummed I won’t be there stateside making a fool of myself, but I’ll try my best here. Also, if anyone has any costume ideas, I could use ‘em. We host a little shindig at the American Home for students and I’ll need a costume.
Anyways, my internet is shitty so I can’t update as often as I’d like. I did get on the twitters (brugnargnar). So here’s a little quickie for you bastards.
Round-up of shit I often forget:
1. Happy birthday to Al, Ryan and anyone else I missed.
2. How’s Vince Roy, Ultra Ultra, Two Hand Fools and whoever else been? New music I should check out?
3. Anyone make it to Pawpaw or going to the Fest?
4. The album Pebble by Lemuria finally grew on me and I can listen to Sink or Swim again.
Well, that’s all for now. Miss you all a lot. Hope all is well, especially for those of you in new cities. Enjoy yourselves.
Love,
Trevor
O, Russia.
Greetings, you sick old bastards. I’ve been in Vladimir for just about two weeks now and it’s been great. My family is rad, my home is rad, the other teachers are rad and Russia is just as hilarious as I remember it. I forgot how much I love the word нормально and how many situations it applies to in my everyday life.
I’ve already blacked-out three or four times in the past two weeks, I may have broken my toe and I’ve adjusted to a daily lunch of pasta and ketchup, but at least I didn’t have appendicitis and end up in a Russian hospital like our colleague, Phillipa. I visited her there and that is not a place I wanna be. I ate at a place called Мистер Гамбургер (Mister Hamburger) the other day. The food sucked, but I had a good time eating it.
I hope all is well stateside.
Love,
Kroigan
